Here in Austin, we are so lucky to have a wide range of exciting activities, events and entertainment going on all throughout the year. Here’s a small sampling of some of the hottest things to do in the city this March:
SXSW Music, Film and Interactive Conference & Festivals
The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference & Festivals are a convergence of modern entertainment and technology. Fans can come to watch live bands and view previews of their favorite TV shows and exciting upcoming films. Industry professionals and others interested in the magic behind the entertainment can enjoy hearing presentations from a wide range of guest speakers and wander around the conference floor, looking at all of the booths from the various sponsors and vendors. This year’s installation of this annual event will take place March 10-19, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to check it out.
Rodeo Austin
Rodeo Austin, occurring this year March 11-25, offers so much more than just your standard rodeo experience. Of course, you’ll have the traditional events, like bull fighting and mutton busting, but you’ll also enjoy checking out the livestock and horse shows. Live music and entertainment will keep the energy high while you ride the rides and play carnival games in the fairgrounds.
St. Patrick’s Day Festival
Get ready to bust out all your green gear for Austin’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival on March 17. Rather than drowning you in green beer, this festival offers up some of the best Irish import brews in their natural hue. The festival focuses on bringing out the authentic Irish culture and heritage of this special holiday for an afternoon that is fun for all ages. You’ll also enjoy traditional Celtic music and Irish dancing on two covered stages.
Donation Spotlight – Heroes Night Out Veteran Resource
The Heroes Night Out Veteran Resource Center coordinates a wide range of activities and community events to raise awareness and support for local veterans, helping them to obtain any assistance they need when they return home. The organization is highly active in the local Austin community and is always looking for volunteers and donations. Be sure to show your support for our troops!
