December is an exciting time in Austin. With Thanksgiving and the always crazy Black Friday in the rearview mirror, we begin to look ahead to the Christmas and New Year holidays!
December is a month where we illuminate the city with festive lights and take time out of our busy schedules to think about others. At Patriot Relocation, we keep our veterans in mind all year round, but this month, we’d like to make a special mention of one of the veteran-centered charities we assist.
The Lone Survivor Foundation
The Lone Survivor Foundation recognizes that transitioning back to civilian life after service overseas can be extremely difficult. Whether wounded in body or soul, so many veterans need compassionate help to heal. Without the dedicated holistic approach to physical and mental recovery, as provided by the foundation, they can easily fall into sad and destructive cycles.
We encourage you to join us in our support for this very worthy cause. When it’s time to move, you’re likely to discover several items you no longer use or need. Rather than pack and haul these extra things that will just live in storage in your new place, why not donate them to the Lone Survivor Foundation? They’ll appreciate the help and you’ll be trucking a lighter load.
Speaking of Moving…
You might not think of this as you plan your move, but your new place might leave a little to be desired in the cleanliness department when you arrive. Sure, it looked good when you first saw the place, but usually the move-out cleaning leaves a bit of a mess behind. Once you wake up in your new home, it may dawn on you how superficial the move-out cleaning job really was. So, before you start the heavy lifting, take your supplies over and give the kitchen and bathrooms a good scrub-down. You’ll feel better knowing those rooms have been sanitized for your family and that you accomplished it before the rooms were filled with your belongings.
Now It’s Time to Play — Austin Style
Starting Nov. 27, the Austin Trail of Lights festivities commence with the Zilker Tree Lighting. It’s the 50th anniversary of this event, so you won’t want to miss it! For a run down on all the Trail of Lights fun, check out the website here.
While we’re thinking of winter fun, we’re curious — when was the last time you strapped on skates and swished around the rink? This year, take your beloved or your whole family to the celebration at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, and contribute to the Make-a-Wish Foundation while you’re at it. Dec. 16 kicks off the celebration with a laser light show. Then, skate away on the indoor rink with a beautiful backdrop of the Hill Country beyond. Ring In the New Year
Finally, don’t drop into bed early on New Year’s Eve. Come to the party with the rest of Austin! Join us at the Austin’s New Year party, from 3 to 10:30 p.m., complete with fireworks over Lady Bird Lake. See the map here.
